Healthy gums: Healthy gums are nice and clean and pink, not red. Redness is a sign of inflammation...Gingivitis or periodontitis. Healthy gums don't bleed, and are tightly attached to the teeth, without the formation of periodontal pockets between the gums and the teeth. Good for you for having a checkup....You should have one every six months. Your dentist will be able to tel if your gums are healthy.

Bleeding: Gum bleeding is the first sign of gum inflammation, i.e. Gingivitis. A healthy gum are nice, clean, and light pink, not red. If gum does not bleed during flossing and/or brushing barring accidental trauma, you have a healthy gum. Congratulation on your oral health!

Healthy Gums: Nice, clean, stippled and pink. Also, patients can have periodontitis and still not have regular bleeding when flossing. The depth of tissue from where the floss reaches is fairly healthy, but beneath that are is the infected bone, periodontium and gingival tissue...I see that more often than i wish i did and it's hard to explain to patients. Waterpiks are great!
