Red gingiva is usually a result of inflammation. You did not say how long ago your teeth were scaled, but it can take a few weeks for the inflammation to subside. If you continue to have issues, please seek a second opinion from a periodontist.

YOUR GUMS SHOULD BE A PINK COLOR NOT RED, IF YOU HAVE GOOD ORAL HYGIENE. IF THEY DON'T BLEED AND ARE NOT INFLAMMED THAN THIS COULD BE YOUR NATURAL COLOR. POSSIBLE MEDICATIONS COULD BE A FACTOR OR TRAUMA BY BRUSHING WITH A HARD TOOTH BRUSH. USE A SOFT BRUSH WHEN BRUSHING.

Red gums can be caused by trauma (brushing too hard or using a hard toothbrush), infection, failure to clean between teeth daily, incorrect oral hygiene techniques, mouth breathing, or normal anatomic variation. Sounds like it's time to see a gum specialist Periodontist for an evaluation.
