Any exercise: Any exercise particularly weight training would help. However a 1000 calorie-diet is difficult to maintain for long and thus you may consider a more moderate approach for long-term benefits. You may lose a lot (mostly from water loss) with this extreme diet but will likely gain even more weight after you stop dieting.
