Depends: If the abscess was from the temporary then there should be no problem. If the abscess was fromn the tooth itself or the nerve dying then it will not go away and stay away. Pain may only be temporary if it is only the gum involvement.

Follow up: I would recommend calling your dentist and scheduling a follow up. It is possible that the crown may need to have the bite adjusted and things will feel better. If not, the tooth may require additional treatment, such as a root canal, before your pain completely resolves. Antibiotics typically help within 2-3 days, so if it has been longer than this, go back to your dentist.

Need to check: Does the tooth have a root canal or need one? Do you have a root fracture, or advanced periodontal disease issue? You need to go to your dentist to address long term solution, antibiotics is not the long term way.

See root specialist: You should be evaluated by a root canal specialist. There are abscesses related to the gums, those related to the tooth, and some that are a combination. I hope the permanent crown was temporarily cemented, but even if not, the area can be treated if necessary. Pain normally subsides in a few days to a week in the temporary crown phase...
