Seek a second opinio: There are always alternatives to most medical problems. I would suggest that you see another good dentist recommended by one of your friends and only if two of them agree that you need removal of your tooth, would i go along with them. Even then you can always seek an alternative treatment and try saving your tooth.

Always have options: No 2 procedures are ever quite the same. And no 2 teeth are ever identical (in terms of treatment) even when its in your own mouth. Although post-op sensitivity is not uncommon even after a few weeks. A lingering abscess is not indicative of a successful procedure. Before removing the tooth, schedule an appointment with an endodontist to examine all your options. Its only too late when its gone!
