Yes: It may reduce her side effects. Alternatively, venlafaxine or Effexor is another "snri" or serotonin-neorephinephrine-reuptake-inhibitor, in the same class as cymbalta (duloxetine). Cymbalta (duloxetine) was on patent, and received an fda indication for diabetic neuropathy, but your mother could also ask her doctor about effexor, which i've found can be equally as effective and much cheaper.

Cymbalta (duloxetine): If your mom stopped Cymbalta (duloxetine) for a while, it's not recommended to restart at higher dose. She might develop dizziness, drowsiness ... With it. It's recommended to restart at lower dose, then titrate it up.
