A member asked:

My 85 year old mother took her first dose of 30 mg duloxetine last night. this morning she was in tears due to insomnia, upset stomach and extreme muscle twitching during the night. it was prescribed for nerve pain but didn't help. should she stop?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At least 30% of patients taking duloxetine can suffer nausea and vomiting. Do not take any more. Notify prescribing physician. Make certain that her pain generator is indeed "nerve pain". Obtain neurological consultation.
