How does combining gabapenten and cymbalta (duloxetine) help with neuropathy. is it safe, is it effective? does taking vistaril enhance the pain killing effects ox

Clarification: Both gabapentin and Cymbalta (duloxetine) have capacity to suppress "nerve" pain, but neither cures any of it. Yes both are safe and effective but both have adverse effects which may be an issue. Vistaril is not of value here, but your amitriptyline is an older drug which can be effective at appropriate dosing.

Med combo: Sometimes gabapentin and / or cymbalta (duloxetine) are prescribed to deal with neuropathic pain. They work by interfering with molecular transmission needed to send the pain signal, especially relevant to neuropathy. They can sometimes be used together. They do not always work. Sometimes one medicine is enough. I am not aware that vistaril would cause them to be more or less effective.
