I was diagnosed type 2 diabetic w/ an a1c of 10.2. after radically changing my lifestyle and food intake my a1c is now5.1. am i effectively "cured"?

Keep it up,,,: If you keep this lifestyle and a regular check of your glucose and see your doctor regularly, you should have no problem. Having said this, you must keep this up as there are other things like blood pressure and heart disease that are related to diabetes and also need to be controlled. So keep doing your regimen because it could come back if you don't. Best of luck.

Changes with age: Agree with answer provided we would love to see more patients like you you will always be a diabetic who is in control with life style as mentioned make sure the life style has moved your good cholestrol HDL in a good range as you advance in age studies have shown worsening glucose balance attend md regular keep company of whatever motivated you.
