Missing data: Type 1 DM is a diabetes usually diagnosed in 10 year old kids who lose their ability to make ANY insulin. Type 2 is generally found in overweight or older adults who can still make some insulin. The A1C tests just correlated with the blood sugar levels over the preceding 3 months. When high it suggests an abnormal glucose metabolism but does not give a cause. I think someone is confused.
