Why do docs recommend to biopsy my nodule rather than remove it?

Need more info: Where is the nodule? How big is it? Could it be just a miscommunication, a biopsy can be an excision biopsy, i.e., biopsy that removes the lesion. It would be prudent to discuss the issue with your doctor.
