Post Ortho options: I'm not sure there was any relationship between your orthodontic treatment and your teeth becoming "pale"? Did you have a thorough cleaning after the braces were removed? Were you keeping your teeth clean during treatment? Whitening toothpastes are safe but have limited ability to whiten other than to remove surface stain. I recommend that you discuss your treatment options with your dentist first.

Most pastes are fine: Most pastes will deal primarily with surface stain and will not have a negative effect permanently on the teeth. The pale appearance may be related to increased plaque, so you should be more diligent with cleaning at home. Or it could also be related to the silver color of the braces reflecting on the teeth, which you won't be able to change.

Whitening toothpaste: Use the toothpaste of your choice to clean your teeth thoroughly. Aids may include a rotary toothbrush and a water pik-type device.

Braces : If you are in braces absolutely no whitening should be used. If braces or off you can start with over the counter strips if you do not have fillings on the front teeth.
