Follow-Up Ultrasound: As a general rule, gallbladder polyps can be safely observed provided that they are less than 1 centimeter in size. Beyond that size, gallbladder removal is recommended to be certain that there is no cancer associated with the polyp. Therefore, a follow-up ultrasound in 6-12 months is usually advised. If you are having abdominal pain, please see a surgeon to help sort this out.

Gallbladder: It's unlikely you had an ultrasound without some complaint. Gallbladder polyps are generally cholesterol polyps and have minimal risk unless they are larger than 1 cm or enlarging quickly. If you are having classic gallbladder symptoms, gall bladder removal may be indicated.
