A member asked:

Ct scans of abdomen reveal no clue other than gallbladder having what appears to be 3 stones but i have ongoing sharp upper left pain which is somewhat relieved by eating but never fully relieved. can polyps be mistaken for stones on ct?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If the "sharp upper left pain" is abdominal pain, and "relieved by eating", obtain a referral to a GI specialist to rule out a gastric (stomach) source for the pain. Without right upper abdominal pain, "three stones' in the abdominal CT usually do not require immediate gall bladder surgery.
