Abdominal ct scan revealed a trace pleural effusion. gp says all is well and radiologist report says unremarkable scan. but should i be worried?

Not likely: May be old scar that followed a pneumonia as a kid. This can appear just like fluid. Get x-ray or ct in 6 months to be sure. If it persists then additional testing for CHF valvular disease etc may be useful.

Maybe: Having a pleural effusion is abnormal. A chest ct scan could be considered. Follow up imaging should be done to document resolution.
