Lung nodules: There are abnormalities at the edge of the lung, or the surface of the lung on ct scan. Nodules may or may not be on the surface of the lung. Atelectasis = compressed lung and there may be false findings. Most nodules are found on the inner chest wall, the "parietal pleura". Ct scan should also be reviewed by your lung doc.

Varying thickness: Concern scar, fluid pockets, or growth can make that appearance. Likely scar after pleurisy, but thoracic surgeon, orbpulmonologist should follow with you.
