When IgM is reactive & IgG is negative then the tested subject recently got herpes infection for the first time. Was ab titer done? We won't know the antibody is for HSV 1 or HSV 2 due to cross reactivity. We could predict if we know the reason why test was done. Eg: if subject was exposed to a person with oral herpes (likely HSV-1) or if there is a recent high risk sexual contact (likely HSV-2).
