Likely: Igm is produced first in response to an antigen, so suggests you are recently infected (within weeks); as to which, test should reflect hsv1 ("oral") or hsv2 ("genital")--but hsv2 is the more commonly tested for type. . Your dr will prescribe antiviral best for your situation: Acyclovir (zovirax), valacyclovir (valtrex) or Famciclovir (famvir).
