Herpes testing: Without knowing why you were tested it is hard to interpret a lab test without clinical context. 90% of people will test positive for a HSV 1 antibody test. This indicates past exposure. Your HSV 1 test indicates a past exposure. A negative HSV 2 Ig M indicates that you have not recently been exposed to HSV 2. This is an odd test to have done but perhaps your doctor had a reason for doing it.
