An elevated CH50 has no specific clinical significance other than to reflect that complement proteins increase as part of the acute-phase response. In angioedema, low CH50 may indicate hereditary angioedema and that's why it was ordered along with other complements. No further study needs to be done if CH50 is high but other complements are normal and you have no other symptoms besides angioedema.
