Depends: Thrombocytopenia is commonly seen in patients with cirrhosis or impaired liver function. There isn't as much a correlation with cardiomegaly (large heart). If your doctor is concerned with your plat count as a sign of synthetic function, he may also be interested in your coags and lipid panel.
