Isolated microscopic hematuria is an interesting & controversial topic in nephrology. If an immediate family member also has this condition, you have a condition called THIN GLOMERULAR BASEMENT MEMBRANE DISEASE, only diagnosed by kidney biopsy. A % of microscopic hematuria case may develop IgA nephropathy later on. At least, urologic causes of hematuria such as stone, popyp, cancer are ruled out.
