Microscopic hematuria: It could be a benign condition, Ig A nephropathy or thin basement membrane disease. Make sure bp is normal and kidney function is stable. Other reasons could be other glomerulonephritides, but they usually give rise to protein in the urine. Some people have have kidney cysts or small kidney stones but they also give rise to frank blood in urine.

Have had microscopic blood in urine for a couple of years(that I know of).U/S has shown nothing. cystoscopy has shown nothing except slight irritation in bladder.Urologist seems unconcerned but what could be causing the constant presence of blood?
In 40s, non-smoker, 2-5 RBC on nearly all UAs x yrs (not related to menstruation). Otherwise normal urine. No gross hematuria. Normal CT and renal US. No symptoms. Any idea why urologist recommended cystoscopy? Aren't I low risk and likely no issue?
