eGFR of 71 on blood test result is based on the average BSA of 1.73 m2. You needs to adjust that number with your BSA. If your BSA is higher than 1.73, your GFR is higher than 71 cc/min. At 46 years old, if your calculated GFR is less than 90 cc/min, it is stage 2 CKD. GFR 90 or more is considered normal at your age but it is CKD 1 if test result(s) is (are) abnormal, urine or radiology tests.
