A member asked:

Is egfr of 62 in a 62 year-old male considered to be normal because it is greater than or equal to 60, or is the egfr considered to be chronic kidney disease (is it stage 1 or stage 2) because the egfr is less than 90?

A person at age 60 or older who has eGFR between 60-89 cc/min will be classified as CKD stage 2 if abnormal urinalysis OR renal imaging tests are present. A person with eGFR above 89 cc/min has stage 1 CKD if abnormal urinalysis OR renal imaging tests are present. But a person of 60 year old with eGFR above 59 cc/min + normal urinalysis AND renal imaging tests will not be classified as having CKD.
