Some hidden causes : Pancreatic enzyme elevation indicates pancreatitis even when it's asymptomatic, without the typical abdominal pain and nausea. Possible causes include severe triglyceride elevation, alcohol, passage of gallstones (due to a shared duct), and rarely certain blood pressure medications (ace inhibitors). I'm sure the doctor has checked for these, so idiopathic means we dont know why.

Unusual to have: Pancreatitis with no pain. If alcohol, medication, gallstones, trauma, elevated triglycerides have been excluded as cause of your pancreatitis, then it sometimes becomes idiopathic, fancy word for unknown cause. You need to have a specialist look at your case.
