Beet root extract would not be a sufficient replacement for prescription blood pressure medicine. However, some studies have shown beet root supplementation to have a modest effect on lowering blood pressure. While beet root might be helpful for blood pressure, a comprehensive plan including lifestyle changes +/- meds will be needed regardless, establishing with a new doc strongly recommended.
