Constipation is a fairly common problem in the general population, and often responds to increasing dietary fiber and water intake. However, given your family history of your mother havingcolon cancer at such a young age, you should see a gastroenterologist. You should begin having colon screening at around age 35, although you may want to start earlier given the symptoms. Good luck.
