My labs show two egfr values one is 87 and the either is 102 whats the difference between the two? i know one is for non black and blacks which one do i follow? also my bff dropped 9 points, last test was 4 years ago. are my kidney declining?

GFR can vary with changes in your fluid status. GFR decrease is usually seen in decline in kidney function but yours increased indicating no trend towards declining kidney function. I don't know what test is BFF.

At this moment, if you are black you will take the high number 102. In the near future, they may change the guideline and GFR will be calculated by serum creatinine, age and gender, no more adjustment for race. Remember this calculated GFR is for a person with an average BSA (body surface area) of 1.73 m2. I think you misspelled BFF so I could not figure out what it stands for.
