I assume you haven't developed a nephrotic syndrome from losing large amounts of protein in your urine due to new kidney pathology. No harm in seeing a lipid specialist. I think you'll do well with statin therapy with or without zetia. I'd also start with a consultation with a dietician at your local hospital. Niacin is a treatment for lipoprotein a elevation. Any significant family history?
