Likely normal: If you don't have any other risk factors, this is a good panel. If you are diabetic or already have coronary disease, then your LDL should be <70 to be in the lowest risk group.

All good: Current goals: chol < 200, HDL >35, LDL <135. Your numbers all look good now, probably because you are young, and hopefully because you are exercising, are the proper weight, and are eating a prudent diet. Next time, though (like in about 2-3 years at annual exam time), request the new NMR test which will analyze the specific quality of your LDL particles to see if you have the right number & size.

It depends . . .: I just gave a lecture on this topic today! turns out your goal LDL depends upon your risk for heart disease over next 10 years (http://hp2010.Nhlbihin.Net/atpiii/calculator.Asp). But chances are your LDL is good enough (<160 if low risk) given your age. Hdl is normal (at least 40 but ideally greater than 60). Total is normal when <200. Best thing is to exercise regularly to raise HDL & eat right.
