My mom's (48) whole abdomen ultrasound says 1.2 cm renal cortical cyst. no categorization. simple or complex. we went to our family doctor. he said it's nothing to worry about. however why isn't it categorized? kindly suggest me?

It is an incidental finding and small cysts like these are seldom complex. If it had been the radiologist would have reprted that. Your MD is right. Maybe a follow-up in a few years.
