I have pain in my flank and back; u/s shows renal cysts less than 1.5 cm. family doc says that would not cause pain + nothing to worry about. i have some difficulty buying that. can cysts that size cause pain?

Uncommon, possible: Simple renal cysts do not usually cause pain, but they may. If you experience dull flank and back pain it is possible that pain is caused by your cysts. A simple question to ask your doc would be what is causing the pain if not the cysts as an alternate cause should be determined.
