It is imperative that your dad see a nephrologist to prevent further deterioration of kidney function. "Natural" treatment are not appropriate in all situations. Rattle snakes are natural. Wish your father good health!

Sodium of 118 is dangerous. You dad needs to limit total fluid intake to less than 800 cc a day (all sources) and he needs to be hospitalized. Serum creatinine of 2.3 mg/dl is not life threatening if kidney problem is chronic. Please note that high fluid intake does not change the kidney outcome but that practice could have severely potential complication and low Na is one. Please don't take herb.
