Heart failure is not difficult to diagnose. If a person's symptoms fit a heart failure picture and echocardiogram confirms abnormal cardiac structure/function, then the diagnosis is made. If the person's symptoms are not consistent with heart failure, and their echocardiogram is normal, then heart failure is ruled out.
