Unclear: It can be normal to a have very, small amount of fluid in the pericardial space around the heart. Anything beyond a small amount is abnormal and needs to be fully evaluated. Heart valves or the heart muscle not closing normally can indicate a problem with the heart. The amount of abnormal closing is essential to know if this is a real problem or an insignificant echocardiogram finding.
