Valid Question.: Swollen ankles and rapid heart rate might be signs of heart failure. They merit a careful history and physical exam as well as ekg, chest x-rays and an echocardiogram. Hypertension and valve problems are high on the list of likely causes; however, in the case of a person exposed to a cardiotoxic chemotherapy drug, one must consider this as well. The toxic drug effect is cumulative; act quickly.

Evaluate further: With your symptoms and history of heart disease (bypass surgery) with recent chemo treatment, your doctors should be suspicious of heart failure. An echo would be very helpful. Your pcp should be able to order this. You can always get a second opinion.
