As per current guidelines, if the 4th-generation combination assay is negative, the person is considered HIV-uninfected, and no further testing needs to be done but I think you should repeat the test one more time combining with HIV RNA test (either qualitative or quantitative) to be more accurate if both of these tests negative then you may have something else. You need to see an infectious disease doc for acomplete exam and pertnent testing including blood tests stool exam and culture. let her/him determine what is needed. Hope you get well fast.
