No, it does have systemic side effects for long term use although used topically.

My answer is no. Because it's more potent, oral diclofenac is by prescription only. More potency potentially means more complications. Even the gel form lists a warning for use over 20 days. Ibuprofen and naproxen are less potent but can be gotten without prescription. What does your orthopedic surgeon feel about your MCL ?.

Long term use of oral diclofenac can be deleterious and best to update an orthopedic consult. You may be a candidate for another procedure or a hyaluronic acid injection
