It is important to know if the child struck their head in the fall that you mentioned as a sprained ankle. Additionally, the use of medications like OTC ibuprofen are not recommended for sprains and can cause nausea and vomiting. Ice, wrapping, elevation, and Tylenol products are safer, and do not inhibit healing of a sprain. Vomiting is not known to be associated with a sprain.

The ideal person to ask would have been the doctor that examined her. The answer to your question is yes. Not a common Occurrence. The sprain could have frightened the child. Or the pain level might have been great enough to induce vomiting.
