If the runny nose is due to an allergy, Benadryl (dihenhydramine) a 1st generation anithistamine (may cause drowsiness) or second generation antihistamines, such as zyrtec (Cetrizine) or Claritin (loratadine) may prove helpful. Ipratropium Nasal spray 0.06% (by prescription only) can be helpful for runny nose due to either common cold, or seasonal allergies (hay fever).
