Nasal washout: There are no effective cough medicines for a 4 mo. A cough is a protective reflex & at that age suggests nasal irritants like dust/smoke/perfumes & the like. A good nasal washout with nasal saline will help most. Removing any airborne irritants helps more in the long term.
