Good afternoon doctors. i am scheduled for fess functional endoscopy sinus surgery.. could you please tell me how i will feel after the procedure? will i feel sick? lose sense of smell? for how long? when will i feel good to resume regular activities?

A lot depends upon how much resecting or cutting is going to be involved in your particular case. After any degree of nasal resection you can expect nasal discomfort and swelling to last a week or so and activities are best limited as well. Sense of smell can be somewhat affected but shouldn't be prolonged. Your ENT specialist can advise you best however.

Hello. A FESS is a relatively quick and easy recovery depending on the extent of disease, reason for the procedure and if packing is placed after the procedure. I assume no septal surgery which usually requires longer recovery. If turbinates are spared, probably no long term loss of smell. Usually 1 week recovery but use best judgement when returning to your regular activities. Rare for nausea
