No: The olfactory nerve is in the superior part of the nasal mucosa. It you had massive nasal polyposis, it is possible that some of the disease process may have been very high up in those nose and the olfactory nerve fibers may have been injured. So it depends on the pathology that was present in your nose and how high up the rhinologist operated. It may resolve over time.
