A member asked:

What are the best scans to determine if you have had any pancreas damage in the past from pancreatitis? also if my lipase was 486 two weeks ago, is it worth rechecking?

A CT scan would provide evidence of calcifications or anatomic abnormalities in the pancreas at the expense of typical radiation involved. Serial lipase measurements are recommended in order to assess for either progression or normalization and in order to better understand what might be causing the process.
