Slightly elevated amylase is usually not worrisome. Highly elevated amylase can be found in inflammatory problems such as pancreatitis, but it can also be seen in other non related disorders such as inflammation of the intestines, gallbladder or even parotid (salivary) gland. Follow up with the prescribing Dr would be the best course of action at this point.

Agree with Dr. Kratzberg. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, macro-amyalsemia is one benign explanation of elevated amylase without and lesion in the pancreas. Wish you good health!
