A member asked:

Persistent bladder infection and frequent thirst. all workup was good except bladder infection& mpv was 9.2 - one point below normal. is this concerning? any ideas for excessive thirst? er workup proved no dehydration, diabetes, or anything obvious?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the MPV value is of no concern. The warm weather may have increased water loss through sweating. Drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless. Wish you good health!
