Natural remedies for sleep are always preferable to drugs whenever possible. Meditation prior to going to sleep should help. Some foods which can help induce sleep are almonds, walnuts, turkey, kiwi, & fatty fish. Chamomile tea & cherry juice should also help. You should eat your regular dinner a few hours before sleep & just small snacks closer to sleep time. Daily exercise should also help!

It seems to me that anxiety is the main problem that needs to be addressed. You should discuss the possible causes for your anxiety with your doctor and he/she will be able to help you with reassurance, psychotherapy or whatever else is appropriate in your situation. The long term adverse effects of persistent anxiety are greater concern. Please seek help.
