A member asked:

Can positive staining with p40 in a lymph node actually be detecting cancer in another location in the body or is it specific to the lymph node? the test as far as i can tell seems to be reacting to unique antibodies so i was curious. thanks?

Immunohistochemical stain p40 of the lymphnode is for detecting certain types of the original cancer rather than lymph node cancer (e.g. lymphoma) by itself. P40 staining is usually positive in squamous cell carcinoma of the lung and urothelial carcinoma.
