A member asked:

Test positive for mono in late may; was told i had positive antibodies and i was about over it. cbc w/ diff and comp 3 months later completely normal. now discomfort in armpits and chest, poss swollen lymph nodes in armpits. is this still the mono?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: The effects of mono (mononucleosis, an Epstein Barr viral infection) can last for several months, but are mostly fatigue issues. If these swollen lymph nodes under the arms are new (not present at time of mono testing or normal CBC testing) you should be re-evaluated for other causes of lymph node enlargement, by a thorough medical history, physical exam, & possibly additional tests.
